1. 研究目的与意义
The globalization process, technology development and its worldwide movement towards economy, finance, trade, immigration, communication and other human activities in various areas, make it inevitable to get into contact and communicate with people from different countries/nations and cultures.
The present-day conditions dictate terms to the necessity of foreign languages qualifications, second-language skills, knowledge and motivation. Motivation is very important not just in language learning but also in every learning process of human activities in various areas. It is also said that the learners who are not motivated are more likely to fail in achieving their goals than those learners who are motivated. The choice of this topic is related to the importance of motivation in foreign language acquisition.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
According to Ellliot and Covington (2001), motivation gives the reasons for people''s actions, desires, and needs. Motivation can also provide the first push to initiate a successful language learning process. Pardee (1990) said that a motive is what encourages the person to act in a certain way or develop a particular manner. Modern psychologists prove the fact that the quality of an activity and its result depends first on a person’s motivation and ability.
The main goal of this topic is to provide a theoretical studying of motivational research: to identify the influence of learning motivation on foreign language acquisition, describe the most important motivational approach that can improve and achieve the better results in the language learning process.
3. 国内外研究现状
Motivation is one of the most important factors in the process for learning second and foreign language proficiently. Richards (1985, p. 185) states motivation as a factor that determines a person’s desire to do something. In fact, the person motivated for learning foreign language is in a better position to achieve the goal in the learning process than those who do not.
