In this situation, knowing the taboo cultures in Chinese and western countries seemed to be very important. So the thesis will be a comparison between Chinese and English taboo words. And there are three reasons for research the theme.
First of all, people live in such a time when globalization drives them to communicate increasingly with people from different cultures. Whether one likes it or not, those communications will become more and more frequently. And this cross-cultural communication can enrich people's knowledge and improve their self-cultivation.
Second, an appropriate attitude towards cultural taboo is conducive to the success in intercultural communication.
