1. 研究目的与意义

Nowadays, with the development of economic globalization and the coming of the globalization of language, English learning has become an inevitable trend. In addition, English has become the most widely used language in the world. In today#8217;s knowledge economy age, it is impossible for a person or even a country to communicate on a global scale without a little grasp of English. Governments around the world have placed education in an extremely important position in order to have a place in the global economy and maintain their important position. Especially in China, the globalization of English teaching is getting more and more important with the development of nearly four or five decades of development after the founding of the People#8217;s Republic of China.

However, in the long-term English teaching, the differences between male and female students in English learning are more obvious. It is not difficult to find out that female#8217;s performance in English is better than that of male. The reasons are closely related to the differences in psychology and physiology of students of different genders. The differences in educational and environmental factors are also closely related.

The purpose of this study is to explore the causes of differences in English learning between male and female students and then put forward some reasonable methods and strategies to promote the development of English teaching.

The research of gender differences has great potential in language teaching . Therefore, in recent years, more and more researches on gender difference have been paid more attention by educators.

Research contents:

This paper discusses the influence and strategies of gender differences on English learning of male and female students.

Through investigation, the author discusses the factors that influence language learning, including social influence, physiological factors, psychological factors, learning motivation, learning concepts and learning strategies, etc.

3. 国内外研究现状

Domestic Research:

There are few studies on gender characteristics in English learning in China. However, it can be seen from some related research reports that there are obvious differences in language learning, and it is generally considered that girls are superior to boys.

Huang guohong (2015) found that female are more active than male in learning initiative in his study about the reasons for the gender difference and teaching countermeasures of learning initiative in English. Thus women tend to get higher grades than men. It is shown that gender difference is an important factor in individual difference and has direct or indirect influence on learners' academic achievement. (Huang, G.H., 2015).
