1. 研究目的与意义
With the increasing opportunities for international communication and cooperation, it is indispensable for English learners to master standard English. However, in the process of learning a foreign language, each person will be more or less affected by the mother tongue, especially the dialect, and the phonetic features of Chinese dialects have plagued many English learners.
There are many dialects in China; almost every place has its own unique dialect. The purpose of the study is to enable students to have a better understanding of their dialects, so as to overcome the negative impact of one#8217;s own dialect on English phonetics and improve their oral English.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
This thesis focuses on the influences of Chinese dialectic accents on English pronunciation. There are seven dialect areas in China, and this paper studies three main dialects: Jiangsu-Zhejiang Dialect, Shandong dialect and Northeastern Dialect. Both their respective characteristics and their effects on English phonetics will be discussed in the thesis. Based on the theory of linguistic transfer and the relevant materials and documents, this paper explains the phonetic features of Chinese dialects and analyzes the negative transfer effects of regional dialects on English learners#8217; English phonetic learning. And the thesis puts forward some feasible methods to solve the problems, which aims to arouse learners#8217; attention on these problems and improve English learners#8217; level of spoken English.
There are some key problems to be explained. Understanding the characteristics of those dialects, comparing them with English pronunciation, and finding the problems and the negative transfer of regional dialects on English learners#8217; English phonetic learning. By solving these problems, the thesis will enable students to have a better understanding of their dialects and arouse learners#8217; attention on these problems.
3. 国内外研究现状
Great achievements have been made by scholars both at home and abroad in the studies of the positive and negative transfer of mother tongue on English pronunciation. Hilary Glasman-Deal has investigated many areas and found the characteristics of their own pronunciation. Odlin Terence has learned the language transfer and concluded the cross-linguistic influence in language learning. James Carl has explored the errors in language learning and use, and has summarized some methods to change these errors. In China, many scholars also did a lot of research on the influence of dialect accents on English pronunciation. Tong linlin has studied the negative transfer of Chinese northern dialect on English pronunciation. Lv fen has done much research and summarized the negative influence of Xi#8217;an dialect on English pronunciation.
There are much research on the influence of Chinese dialects on English phonetics, but many scholars only focus on dialects of a certain region, and this thesis concentrates on three regions, distinctly compares their different dialectal features and influences on English pronunciation.
