InLawrence’s early works, he showed the advanced consciousness of ecofeminism. The Rainbow is one of his mostrepresentative works. Through the description of the fate of three generationsof women in a family, the book reveals the social reality that the industrialrevolution has destroyed the relationship between human and nature and betweenmen and women. It also expresses the beautiful vision of constructing theharmonious ecology environment and realizing the gender equality. The study ofheterosexual relationship in The Rainbow will help us to better understand ecofeminism.

Moreover,Lawrence had seen the devastation wrought by industrialization, so heunderstood more deeply the relationship between human and nature. And The Rainbow is the first novel in whichLawrence shifted the focus of his writing to the relationship between men andwomen. Therefore, many people have discussed ecofeminism and heterosexualrelationships in it separately. Few people have combined ecofeminism and therelationship between men and women, but they are actually closely related toeach other.     Lawrencewas called a pornographer from the time TheRainbow was published until the 1950s. It was not until the publication of D. H. Lawrence: Novelist that Lawrence’sliterary status was re-established. The book calls him “the great writer of ourtime (Leavis, 1955:9). With the confirmation of Lawrence’s status, The Rainbow, which had been criticized,was also studied by more and more scholars. The book The Art of D. H.
