1. 研究目的与意义

The use of'relevance' prepositions occur not only in the evolution of natural language, butalso in the translation of legal texts.

The main purposeof legal text is to regulate people''s behavior, which determines the need ofprecise and accurate language of legal text. Accurate English translation oflegal texts facilitates people to accurately understand and abide by laws andregulations. Only strict and accurate language of laws and regulations canexpress the meaning completely and correctly. Therefore, in the process oftranslation of legal texts, translators should not only respect the legalprovisions, but also fully understand and master the use of 'relevance' prepositions, so as to make the English translation of legal texts conform tothe requirements of English grammar.

Throughcomparative researches, I have found that the frequency of 'relevance' prepositions used inEnglish translation of legal texts is not low. But the English translation of the legal text did not grasp the semantic andgrammatical relations of the 'relevance' prepositions in the text sufficiently, so it isdifficult to realize the coherence function of the compound preposition. Thissituation reflects the special immaturity of the English translation of legaltext, which is exactly what I want to achieve in this paper: I try to breakthrough the current status of the English translation of legal text andconstantly make it closer to the target language.

3. 国内外研究现状

According toliterature review, since 2008, domestic research on legal text translation andthe “relevance” prepositions has been increasing year by year. Since 2008, 1279articles have been published on CNKI, focusing on the principles, methods andstrategies of translation. Most of the researches are based on functionalperspective theory, followed by text perspective theory.

Comparativelyspeaking, the study on legal text translation in foreign journals is relativelyconcentrated in recent years, and the earliest one that can be retrieved onCNKI is in 2019, and the number is not large, which is mainly the study onmajor translation methods and semantic difference of modal verb.

There are few researches on compound prepositions in China, most of which are still focused on the principles of translation of legal text.
